Inflatable Penile Prostheses (IPP)
• Components:
- Cylinders: Placed in the corpora cavernosa
- Pump: Placed in the scrotum
-Reservoir: Placed in the abdomen
• Materials: Biocompatible silicone, polyurethane, or other medical-grade materials
• Cylinder Sizes: Various lengths and diameters to fit different anatomies, typically ranging from 12 cm to 25 cm in length• Reservoir Capacity: 60-100 mL of saline
• Pump Mechanism: Squeeze pump to transfer fluid from the reservoir tothe cylinders deflation valve for fluid return
• Inflation: Provides a natural feeling erection
• Deflation: Cylinders become flaccid when deflated
Malleable (Semi-Rigid) Penile Prostheses
• Components:
- Bendable Rods: Two semi-rigid rods implanted into the corpora cavernosa
• Materials: Biocompatible silicone with metal core or other medical-grade materials
• Rod Sizes: Various lengths and diameters, typically ranging from 12 cm to 20 cm in length
• Flexibility: Allows manual positioning of the penis for intercourse and concealment
• Operation: Simple to use, does not require any manipulation to create an erection
